In the grim darkness of the early 1990's, Warhammer 40,000's lore was less
well developed and Citadel's model range was less extensive; the Warhammer
40,000 Rogue Trader rules allowed any Imperial or allied faction to
take Dreadnought Armour, (AKA Mech Suits). Back then, Dreadnoughts weren't
Space Marine heroes' mobile sarcophagi, they were simply the most powerful
form of personal armour and the pilots weren't permanently entombed in
their Dreadnoughts.
